August H. Mueller was a Narberth founding father: as a member of the Narberth Association, he led the campaign for incorporation 1893–95, then was elected the new borough's first burgess (mayor).

He was a creator of maps from Ohio to New York, and publisher of four editions of Atlas of Properties on Main Line Pennsylvania Railroad from Overbrook to Paoli from 1896 to 1920, whose Narberth plates are featured on the Narberth History Map.

Some Things Never Change…

Our Town August 23, 1924, page 4:

A. H. Mueller appeared before Council to express his strong disapproval of the zoning ordinance, which was passed at the July meeting. His complaint was based on the fact that his property at the corner of Forest and Windsor avenues is excluded from the business district. He felt that he had been unfairly treated as a property owner and brought out the fact that he was the first Burgess of Narberth and one of the oldest residents. It was explained to him that the zoning matter had been under consideration for more than six months, during which time it had been given considerable publicity in "Our Town" and also by means of notices which were posted on the public bulletin boards.

Mr. Mueller said that he had been in total ignorance of this proposition and felt that he should have been informed individually. President Hall [of borough council] explained to him that Council would be glad to give consideration to his grievance if he would put it in the form of a petition and present it with the signatures of himself and his neighbors.
