Frederick H. Harjes
1844 November 13–1923 February 19

In 1890, before Narberth incorporated as a borough, Harjes, a recent immigrant from Germany, was elected a member of the Narberth Park Association, the new town's first civic organization. He served as its vice president 1891–92, and as its president from October 1892 until its dissolution in December 1895.
After coordinating the Association's 1895 handoff to elected borough government, Harjes joined borough council, in which he served fifteen of the next 18 years, including two as Council President.
