Carey Edmunds, architectural editor of The Ladies' Home Journal, wrote in February 1920 in "Making the Old House Over", that architects Wallace & Warner designed this house around the c.1890 barn for 1104 Montgomery. Its first owner was the firm's principal, Frederick Warner.
