This is one of the oldest houses in Narberth. "Mr. Marmaduke Moore and Mr. Joseph Mullineaux, Jr., were sons-in-law of Mrs. Furey and lived here long before it became a village, and may correctly be called the borough's oldest residents." — Carden F. Warner, Narberth's Historical Prelude (1905), p.39.
Maria Furey sold some 58 acres in 1887 to John J. Ridgway and his Real Estate Investment Company, from which was developed Narberth Park. But first she set aside two large lots for her daughters Martha (2 acres next door at 417 Haverford) and this, 3 acres, for Mary.
What must be unique in Narberth, this house was home to two burgesses, the second (Joseph Mullineaux, Jr.) and sixth (Fletcher Stites), although Stites lived here after his term as burgess.
