Andrew Perry Redifer
1867–1927

Andrew Perry Redifer was a 21-year-old recent graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, when his father died. The youngest of four children, he was now left in charge of S. S. Redifer & Co., a shoe last factory at 135 Race St., Philadelphia. In the summer of 1891 he, with his two sisters, disabled older brother and mother, bought 119 N. Essex and moved to Narberth.
According to his obituary, Redifer became the secretary for the Narberth (formerly Narberth Park) Association, so when the borough incorporated in 1895, the first Borough Council appointed him, at 27, its secretary, the forerunner to Borough Manager; his signature appears on the large incorporation map that hangs (2024) in Borough Hall's council chamber.

Borough Council’s longest-serving member
After 10 years as Secretary, Redifer was elected to Borough Council and served 21 years, 11 months, 4 days, its longest-serving member.
