Following service in the U.S. Navy during both world wars, Commander O'Sullivan presided as Parade Marshall over Narberth's 1948 Memorial Day parade. Narberth has held a Memorial Day parade since at least 1920. Just after WWII, with so many recently discharged servicemen and women participating, the parades were much bigger than today, and longer, too. As reported in Our Town May 27, 1948, this parade marched 2½ miles; recent parades have been 1½ miles, confined to the north side of town.

Highlighting the parade will be floats entered by the Narberth Business Council, Lower Merion Rod and Gun Club, and the Italian-American Citizens Club.

Marching in the parade will be the following groups: Police escort, American Legion, Gold Star Mothers, Junior Drum and Bugle Corps of the Edgar F. Yearsley post of Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Narberth Junior Baseball team, Narberth Boy Scouts and Cubs, Narberth Girl Scouts and Brownies, American Red Cross, pupils from Narberth Public School and St Margaret's Parochial School, Volunteer Fire Company with Northern Liberties Cadets, Volunteer Medical Corps, members of the Narberth Business Council and a group of decorated bikes.
