Josephine Minick was a member of Edward Rees Price's household since the 1850 census, listed as his housekeeper in 1870 and 1880. In his 1887 will, Price bequeathed his house at 714 Montgomery Ave. and much of his property to Josephine for her lifetime.

Item. I give and devise unto the said Josephine Mynick my Mansion House whereon I now live, the smoke House, Cart House, Barn carriage house, two small lots, truck patch, and orchard containing together about 10 acres and my Tenement House and Spring lot containing one and one half of an acre more or less for the use and benefit of the said Josephine Mynick for and during the term of her natural life and after her death as hereinafter mentioned concerning the rest residue and remainder of my estate. I also give the said Josephine Mynick for her own use the best large sleigh and harness and best carriage.
