Austin H. Gunsel
1909 April 2–1974 June 17

Austin Gunsel served for 3 months as interim National Football League Commissioner after Bert Bell died unexpectedly on October 11, 1959. Bell had hired FBI Special Agent Gunsel as the league's investigator. Gunsel was the NFL's treasurer when Bell died, and resumed that position after Pete Rozelle was voted in as Commissioner January 26, 1960.
